Meatless Monday

Meatless Monday

With the growing popularity of vegetarian and veganism, a whole new market has opened up. A fresh concept of ‘Meatless Monday’ has been introduced, with the hopes of encouraging more people to consider a plant-based diet, to better improve their health and the environment. Meatless Monday was introduced in 2003 by a health advocate, Sid Lerner, and has since become a global movement.

The concept is simple; encouraging people to cut animal products out of their diet once a week, every Monday. Many restaurants have become involved with meatless Monday, including big chains such as KFC, who have recently introduced their first, meat free, Vegan burger.

The real gems, however, are the smaller businesses located around the city of London. With the rise in demand for vegan and vegetarian options, many new cafes and restaurant catering to the plant-based diet have opened, London being the most popular city for these unique restaurants and cafés.

So why not consider dropping meat from your diet once a week, you will notice the health benefits, do your bit for the environment and have the opportunity to try out some new vegan restaurants.
