Pop-Up Food Vehicles
Pop-up food vehicles are becoming more and more popular all over the UK. This is in line with the upward trends in the demand for healthy, fresh food that is cooked in front of the customer. Furthermore, with more of a focus on people doing their bit for the planet, many customers are looking for meat free and in particular, vegan options and pop-up food vans often provide the solution.
Pop-up food vans can offer all sorts of different options and are a great way to get a taste of foreign cuisine. In the many street markets all over the UK, customers have the choice of pop-up Chinese food, Mexican burritos, Italian pasta, both Indian and Thai curry dishes and some desserts with many of the vans and trailers offering churros, candy nuts and crepes.
Pop-up food vehicles looking to take part in street markets usually have to pay for their place among the sellers, taking what they make on the day. These vehicles are also regularly feature at corporate events in particular given their variety and versatility.
These vehicles tend to have two members of staff working at any one time. One member of staff in charge of cooking, with the other dealing with customers, taking money, managing orders and assisting with food preparation. This varies however, and as can be seen with some of the larger, American style pop-up trailers, there may be as many as five staff working at the one time.
